Design Consulting

When starting a custom glass project, the design and its efficiency is important. LAGB will conceptualize and design your project, or assist in mastering your design and concept for optimal functionality; making manufacturing and application easy and efficient. 

Handblown Glass

We specialize in custom hand blown glass art and solutions. There are two ways we approach most projects; offhand blowing or mold blowing. Offhand is a blowing method we use to make the piece by hand using calipers if needed. Pieces can be varied depending on your preferences. When repitition is required, we can make you a specialized custom mold for your glass project. Molds allow for high output production and consistency when it matters the most.  

Interiors

An LAGB staff member can walk through your location to consult you on the best design options, colors, and style for the space. From inception to completion we work closely with our clients to ensure all your needs are addressed and completed cleanly and professionally.

2013 Flora Awards

Los Angeles Glassblowing was comssioned to make the 2013 Flora Awards. Our clients at Case Western University in Cleveland, Ohio asked us to create an award that conceptually had to do with rebirth and the fluidity in life. The recipients of these awards were given honorary recognition for their work as influencial women, serving the needs of less fortunate women in the community. We cast blue glass to represent fluidity in water, then hand sculpted pink lotus flowers (in alignment with the company logo). The lotus flower is symbolic of fortune in Buddhism. It grows in muddy water, and it is this environment that gives forth the flower’s first and most literal meaning: rising and blooming above the murk to achieve enlightenment. If a lotus flower is pink, it refers to compassion and love. We finished the award by sandblasting the etched lettering and Flora Stone logo on the award. Our coldworking studio is furnished with the appropriate tools and equipment to seemlessly restore your glass items. Due to variations in complexity, all projects must be evaluated by a Los Angeles Glassblowing professional prior to starting work. Our extensive knowledge of glass can help you determine the most appropriate approach to your glass restoration project.

Glassblowing Classes

We teach beginning, intermediate and advanced glassblowing classes. Our classes cover all techniques in glassblowing. If you have glassblowing experience, we will work with you to pick up where you have left off to continue your journey in glass. Intermediate and advanced classes can be tailored around what you would like to learn, or we will assess your skill set in order to determine what will be productive steps forward in you becoming a better glassblower.
